The East African Community is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community provides that the partner states agree to establish a Customs Union, details of which shall be contained in protocol which shall, inter alia, include Competition. The protocols on the Establishment of the East African Community Customs Union and Common Market regulate Competition matters.
The EAC Competition Act, 2006 established the East African community Competition in the Community, consumer welfare and for related matters.

Terms and Conditions of Service
The post of Registrar is tenable for a contract of five (5) years none-renewable while the positions of Deputies Registrar are for a contract of five (5), cars renewable once. The General staff positions are tenable for five (5) years renewable until mandatory retirement age of 60 years subject satisfactory conduct and performance.
All positions are subject to the application of the Quota System

Education Qualifications
All candidates applying must have qualifications that are recognized by the relevant national accreditation body in their respective countries. This condition is applicable for locally and internationally attained qualifications.
All professions that require registration with the specific professional bodies will he expected to do so in compliance with the requirements of their respective partner states.
Relevant Working Experience
Internship, training, apprenticeship and clerkship will not be considered as relevant work experience.
