DUTY STATION: ARUSHA

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Identify challenges facing value chain actors particularly farmers and engage proactively with TAHA field officers (FOs) and other partners to ensure that technical challenges are well addressed. Responsible in mobilizing farmers into formal entities (groups, associations, etc.) while building their technical capacity to attain maximum production and marketing of their produce.
Develop varieties of Good Agricultural Practice manuals and ensure that they are widely shared with stakeholders.
Identify training needs, design and coordinate the implementation of technical trainings to TAHA Members from comprehensive to associate members and other actors.
Ensure partners coordination, capacity building in terms of training and networking as part of TAHA’s efforts to build a cohesive industry.
Promote TAHA standards and guidelines to partners and field officers.
Participate and provide the focal position in the development and implementation of technical projects in the industry focusing on standards development and compliance.
Full responsible in coordinating standards matters in the industry while promoting and implementing activities to empower farmers to understand and comply with national and international standards. Coordinate and oversee the Standards Coordination platforms such as Global GAP National Technical Working Group activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Advanced degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related field
Minimum of four years’ experience in management of agricultural technical activities
Strong experience in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), horticultural technologies and horticultural standards system
Ability to mobilize and coordinate ground partners
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical advice to improve and strengthen access to financial services to horticultural farmers, enterprises and other value chain actors
Develop technical papers on different financial services such as agriculture insurance, financial services and innovative products and services relevant to the horticultural industry
Develop a network of financial partners and maintain working relationships with counterparts in other organizations, associations, private sector firms and development agencies specialized in finance and agribusiness
Conduct needs assessment, design training materials and implement capacity building programs with a view of enhancing financial management skills of horticultural farmers and other value chain actors Design and implement agri-finance programs to catalyze financial institutions involvement in financing horticultural enterprises
Appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of farmers projects which applies for financial support
Provide technical advice to improve and strengthen access to financial services to horticultural farmers, enterprises and other value chain actors
Prepare policy position papers which identify policy/legal framework challenges related to finance and recommend strategies to address such issues
Represent TAHA and the horticultural industry in agriculture finance fora with the view of catalyzing donor and partners commitments in supporting the horticultural industry
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Policy and Advocacy Manager Qualifications and Experience
Advanced degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Economics or related field
Minimum of three years carrying out similar tasks (management of agricultural loans, facilitating finances to farmers, coordinating agri-financing platforms)

Assist the Programmes Manager in the overall planning and implementation of TAHA development projects.
Participate in the development, planning, coordination and implementation of projects which extend support services to farmers, partners and other beneficiaries on the ground
Prepare and organize project proposals and progress reports according to partners requirements and format while observing reporting deadlines
Provide guidance and coordinate staff and partners in setting up and implementing project activities according to plans
The focal person in the coordination of some specific project activities assigned by the Programmes Manager
Manage and supervise activities in the practical training centers including partners coordination, farmers trainings, technical support and introductions of new innovations for farmers
Establish new practical training centers and expand the already established ones by soliciting new partnerships and increasing private sector involvement in the PTCs
Qualifications and Experience
Advanced University Degree in Economics, Agriculture or related field
Minimum five years’ experience in the coordination, management, or administration of development project or programme Proven skills in partners mobilization and engagement

Develop and deliver effective training to the Association staff in the use of reporting templates and M&E data storage & retrieval systems.
Develop a robust quality control system to ensure that accurate baseline and results data is collected from field activities that will enable clear impact results to be established for the program.

Work with Programmes Department to identify information to be shared with membership & stakeholders;
Assist in the design of TAHA Magazine and other publications including newsletters, bulletins and technical reports
Provide overall management of branding and marking requirements;
Managing content of association website, including linking the site with TAHA publicity tools and conduct an analysis of use to help implement strategies to increase viewership;
Identification and development of alternative communication strategies to reach TAHA stakeholders; Manage the association’s translation work (English to Swahili and vice versa);
Design, produce and disseminate horticulture publicity materials;
Preparation and management of stands at trade shows and publicity support for field days.
Assist in translating technical materials into a business information

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Working closely with TAHA members (producers, processors, exporters, cooperatives and associations) on gender, health and nutrition awareness;
Conducting assessments and mainstreaming gender, health and nutrition programs in TAHA activities; Representing TAHA in meetings, workshops and seminars on gender, health and nutrition;
Supervising and coordinating the implementation of gender, health and nutrition activities including; HIV/AIDS prevention education and awareness activities, peer educators trainings and other health activities as per the approved work plan;
Supporting TAHA member companies in designing and implementing workplace health polices and comprehensive health education packages;
Identifying and collaborating with organizations working in gender and incorporating existing educational materials into TAHA activities
Working with partners to engage People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWA)in the delivery of HIV-prevention messages
Developing gender, health and nutrition programs for TAHA members and non-members in rural areas. Assisting the Programs Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in developing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and reporting structures of all gender, health and nutrition activities. Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports an submits to relevant persons
Any other duties as shall be assigned by the CEO and Programs Manager. Qualifications and Experience A University Degree in Nutrition, Home Economics or related field. Post-Graduate degree on the relevant fields will be an added advantage
