Assistant accountant at Rightway SchoolsJob Details Job purpose         Employees in this job correct, process and reconcile a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements, and journal vouchers; review and code financial information;
 prepare and process documents to disburse funds, make deposits and prepare reports; compile and review information for accuracy; and maintain records. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting terminology and using spreadsheets and/or automated accounting systems
 Key Accountabilities
1. Processes payments and documents such as invoices, journey vouchers, employee reimbursements and statements
2. Verifies items billed against items ordered and received and reconciles differences through follow-up with the vendor and/or other employee.

Enter, updates and/or retrieves accounting data from automated systems
4. Posts financial data to appropriate accounts in an automated accounting system, according to instructions.
 5. Provide high quality financial information including projected outturns and early warning systems for budget variances.
6. Ensuring correct accounting policies are being applied when budgeting and allocating actual spend.
7. Supervise day-to-day operations within accounts receivable and payable functions.
8. Work closely with the accountant to ensure the smooth running of the Accounts Department, and deputize when needed.
 9. Assist the Accountant preparing the yearly budget and critical cash flow, income and expenditure patterns.
10. Monitor all budgets on a monthly basis, complete appropriate returns and advise Accountant and Head Teacher accordingly. 11. Manage the proper collection, reconciliation and banking of monies.
12. Disburses funds using manual/local warrants or petty cash and makes change according to specific instructions.
13. Endorses warrants or money orders, prepares account deposit ticket, and deposits money
as directed.
 14. Files and/or removes records and reports.
15. Prepare and submit appropriate tax returns and PPF in a timely manner.
 16. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and maintaining structures that meet both statutory and management reporting requirements and comply with audit practices
17. Manage and report on all income and expenditure from all school accounts
18. Update any financial procedures and ensure communication to any staff that maybe affected by changes
19. Ensure the receipts are genuine and value for money is obtained for the school. Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from the Head Teacher and/or Director to undertake work of similar level that is not specified in this job description.
