support American Volunteers serving in a number of community development projects including Secondary Education, Sustainable Agriculture and Community Health Education.
We are looking for qualified candidates to temporarily facilitate a Pre-Service Training Programs for the Peace Corps Volunteers, to take place in Korogwe from June to September 2017. Our trainings follow Community-Based Training (CBT) approach and therefore the successful candidates will be required to live and work in rural areas around Korogwe town throughout the training period. 1. Language and Cross-Culture Facilitators (LCFs) · 5 positions
The LCFs are responsible for planning and implementing a successful community-based Swahili Language and Cross-Cultural training. He I She will be the primary point of contact for the Peace Corps Trainees. An LCF acts as the cross-culture guide to Trainees and a technical
information resource person at the Community Based Training site. LCFs report to the Training Manager and work under direct supervision of the Language and Cross-Culture Coordinator(LCC), in collaboration with the Homestay Program Coordinator and Technical Trainers to ensure that the volunteer-trainees meet a set of established language, technical and cross-cultural minimum standards before service.
Desired Qualifications:
An applicant must possess at least a Diploma in Adult Education, Education, Social Work, Community Development or other fields related to the Peace Corps Projects. The incumbents must have at least 3 years of experience with teaching Kiswahili to foreigners (preferably Americans); and ability to communicate effectively in English. Knowledge and/or
experience in secondary education, agriculture, livestock, forestry, gender and women empowerment, HIV&AIDS and Malaria will be an added advantage. Being functional in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also an added advantage. Candidates from Zanzibar are strongly encouraged to apply.
2. Homestay Coordinator (HC) -1 position
The Homestay Coordinator (HC) is responsible for recruiting and training voluntary Tanzanian families who are willing to host the American Volunteers during the Pre-Service Training program. He/she will be expected to closely monitor the homestay program so that it provides conducive and respectful intercultural learning environment to the Americans and their Tanzanian families. The HC works with LCFs to provide day to day intercultural learning support to the families and volunteers. He/she is also expected to lead intercultural training sessions for volunteers and their host families, as per the calendar of training. He/she reports to the Training Manager and coordinates with the LCC, Training Coordinator, Program Managers as well as other staff involved in the training, as per guidance of the Training Manager.
Desired Qualifications:
An applicant for this position must have at least a Bachelor Degree in Adult Education, Education, Social Work, Community Development or other fields related to Peace Corps Projects. The incumbent must have at least 3 years of experience in teaching Kiswahili to foreigners (preferably Americans); at least 2 consecutive years of facilitating an Intercultural training I learning program and must be fluent in Swahili and English languages. Knowledge and/or experience in secondary education, agriculture, livestock, forestry, gender and women empowerment, HIV&AIDS and Malaria will be an added advantage. She/he must. be functional in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
