PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Job Purpose:
To plan and procure goods and services and ensure adequate utilities are provided cost effectively based on the approved budgets for the Company operations.
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
- Receives, reviews and approves IPRs within authority limits.
- Gets approval from Section Managers and MD for IPRs above authority.
- Prepare annual procurement plan and monitor its execution.
- Coordinate purchases for major expenditure through tender board.
- Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers.
- Ensures that IPRs are promptly issued for goods and services and LPO!FPOs are approved.
- Follow up and ensures that goods and services ordered are actually delivered as per specifications.
- Monitor consumption, stock and re-order level.
- Ensure that all returns, printed waste, miscellaneous disposable assets and materials are sold in accordance with the approved procedure.
- Liaise with user departments to ensure that all office utilities are readily available and cost effectively used.
- Monitors all insurance matters to ensure adequate cover, settlement of claims and up-date records.
- Perform annual’ supplier’s evaluation and. communicate feedback for improvements.
- Manage supplier relationship,
Qualifications and Experience:
- Academic – Basic University Degree in Procurement and Supplies from Reputable Institution.
- Professional Accredited certification of Procurement.
- Experience: 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a similar role in a reputable organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
- High degree of integrity and honesty;
- Knowledge of SAP Materials Management module will be an added advantage.
Sub Editor Sports
Job Purpose:
To edit stories, write captions, place pictures and write headlines in conformity with journalistic ethics, editorial objectives and house style within set deadlines.
Main Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
- Checking and correcting editorial copy allocated by the Chief Sub-Editor for facts, accuracy, libel, taste, house-style, language use, clarity, details, objectivity and spelling
- Subs copy to fit allocated space without distorting facts or dispensing with the salient points.
- Re-writes the copy as necessary for simplicity, Clarity and house-style.
- Writes or rewrites the appropriate headline for the copy, ensuring it reflects the overriding message of the story.
- Edits the pictures selected by the Chief Sub Editor to fit the allocated space, and writes/rewrites appropriate caption taking care not to merely state the obvious details.
- Designs the editorial pages as directed by the Chief Sub Editor.
- Checks all headlines, captions, pictures, copy text and page logos and all other page elements to sign the pages within set deadlines.
- Checks the printed soft copy and corrects any errors and signs off the pages to go to press
- Submits the edited copy within set deadlines.
- ‘Editing stories aimed to be used on the social media platforms developed for breaking news to web stories.
- Adhering to Social Media Policy as updated from time to time.
Academic Qualifications:
- University Degree/Diploma in Journalism/Mass Communication or equivalent.
- At least four years’ experience in journalism. part of which as a sub editor
- Excellent communication skills
- Mastery of English and Swahili grammar
WEB EDITOR – 1 POST (For Mwananchi Publication)
This position requires a dynamic and result-oriented computer-savvy individual who is familiar with using the internet. Candidates with experience in blogging and other social media tools will have an added advantage.
Main Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
- Retrieve, compile, edit and upload articles and relevant photos and other visual content to Mwananchi website – mwananchi.co.tz to – on a daily basis.
- Actively moderate comments on MCL websites to filter out hate speech, profanity, personal attacks or any other uncouth language/behaviour.
- Promote audience engagement and drive web traffic by pushing stories out on social media (Facebook/Twitter and media sharing via Instagram and other social media outlets).
- Revise headlines and rework story leads (particularly breaking stories) to ensure they suit web presentational requirements.
- Scour news sites, blogs and forums for breaking stories and liaise with news desks and field reporters to verify potential leads.
- Write up, edit and revise breaking stories for the Web and ‘continuously review websites for language clarity and presentation.
- Ensure the presentation of content on our websites is in line with Mwananchi Communication Limited’s house style and editorial policy.
- Meet all deadlines as set by the working schedule.
- Deadlines control: Zero tolerance
- Take a lead in live streaming of events through websites and other social media sites .
- Customer service: 24 hour turnaround for resolutions of complaints
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- University Degree/Diploma in Journalism/Mass
- Communication or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills.
- At least 2 to 3 years working experience.
- Good background in journalism, computer and internet skills.
- Familiarity with Social Media networks such as facebook and twitter.
- Self-motivated and result oriented.
