CAMRIS seeks an Implementation Science Advisor for an upcoming task order under the International Technical, Operation, and Professional Support Services (ITOPSS) IDIQ. The objective of this position is to provide support and technical assistance to the CDC-Tanzania Science Office, Chief/Associate Director of Science, the Associated Director of Programs, the Country Director, Branch chiefs, team leads, program staff, and other USG agencies in designing, implementing and evaluating implementation science projects and their products.
Note: The position is contingent on contract award.
* Provides scientific technical assistance to program staff and Branch Chiefs in assigned Program Branches and/or program areas in the planning, development, implementation, analysis and dissemination of implementation science activities.
* Provides support and assistance to CDC-Tanzania to successfully implement key research activities to the highest technical and ethical standards.
* Engages directly with all research activities within the portfolio and prioritizes level of engagement to ensure high quality outputs and timely execution.
* Provides technical assistance and advice to CDC-Tanzania Project Officers/Program Leads/Activity
* Managers of Cooperative Agreements on implementation science issues that need to be addressed to ensure implementation occurs according to agreed upon and documented timelines and budgets.
* Provides technical assistance in the development of evaluation strategies and formulation of appropriate monitoring and evaluation activities for on-going and future public health programmatic
* issues in consultation and collaboration with other USG agencies in Tanzania.
* Assists in the facilitation and coordination of implementation science projects within CDC and across United States Government (USG) agencies in Tanzania.
* Assists in facilitating research prioritization
process within CDC and USG and supports national research strategy development and implementation.
* Participates in drafting and review of protocols and data collection tools of specific research activities within the Science portfolio.
* Assists with completing analyses and drafting publications related to implementation science.
* Work with CDC-Tanzania Science Office Chief and CDC Atlanta Science Offices to ensure appropriate policies are followed. Travel to and support specific study sites during periods of data collection preparation, implementation, analysis, and information dissemination.
* Provides technical oversight, as needed, on training of data collectors, data entry and management personnel to ensure quality of training. Provides support for literature reviews as requested.
* Performs and/or supports the writing of abstracts, reports and manuscripts through one on one mentoring and/or writing workshops with CDC program staff and fellows.
* Assists with other tasks related to the planning, capacity building and implementation of research
* activities to fulfill the needs of CDC/Tanzania and other USG partners.
* Provide support and work to strengthen efforts of CDC-Tanzania during their involvement with USG funded implementation science activities, through targeted scientific input, and planning and advising on key aspects of specific evaluations, with focus on at least one large multi-country project.
* Travel in country (Tanzania) to fulfill a specific program’s monitoring or training requirements and share expertise in disease intervention, public health practices, etc.
* Actively participate in respective program branch meetings.
* PhD in Epidemiology or other area with significant research from an accredited college and/or university.
* Three or more years of experience in HIV/AIDS programs, preferably in a resource-limited setting.
* Demonstrated experience in developing, conducting and analyzing research.
* Specific experience in operational research and implementation science desired.
* At least three years of substantial knowledge of PEPFAR programs is desirable.
* Ability to demonstrate excellent time and project management skills.
* Level IV English proficiency required.
* Ability to effectively communicate in English (speaking, writing, and reading) daily with various groups.
* Ability to work full-time and be in Tanzania is requied.
