JOB TITLE: MANAGER, GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
The Manage General Administration will oversee the general administrative function for all AKU-TIHE programmes in Tanzania and act as liaison between the administration and academic staff. His or her specific duties will include
• Oversee the effective implementation of AKU administrative policies and procedures to ensure efficient and appropriate office systems and practice
• Oversee the provision of administrative and logistical support for educational activities including examinations, seminars, conferences and other academic programs
• Supervise the safety and security functions for all campuses
• Be responsible for the procurement function in liaison with Materials Management Division of AKU in East Africa, to ensure that institutional policies for procurement are being followed
• Ensure all facilities and equipment are maintained appropriately
• Oversee the acquisitions of visas, work permits and student permits
• Oversee the housing assistance and hostel services provided to faculty and staff, keep abreast of the market for rental properties to be leased for the institution and ensure that all AKU leases are finalized at competitive rates
• Oversee the management of the travel and transport function for all programmes
Required qualification
The ideal candidate should possess a Master degree in Administration/Social Science or equivalent qualification from a recorgnised university and have at least 5 years work experience in office management at senior level. The candidate must have excellent Interpersonal and team building skills. In addition s/he should be proactive, efficient and should have the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Kiswahili
