SENIOR DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Duties and Accountabilities:
The selected candidate will be expected to play a dual role as senior
technical specialist covering urban and DRM issues. This will involve
coordinating, supporting and providing technical advisory services for
the Tanzania Urban Resilience Program, based in Dar es Salaam. In this
role the candidate willuties and responsibilities:
1. Strategic and technical support to the management of the TURP
• Monitor the technical and strategic content of TURP financed activities;
• Keep informed of trends in the urban and climate risk management sectors to look for innovative ways to meet objectives of the TURP;
• Coordinate the development of technical issues related to TURP activities and results, including the quality assurance process;
• Contribute to, or lead high-level dialogue on urban resilience with the Government of Tanzania and strategic partners and represent the Bank in
this technical capacity at internal and external meetings;
• Lead selected analytical work to inform advisory services aimed at strengthening government’s urban resilience programs and systems;
• Lead and/or participate in task teams to prepare and deliver Recipient Executed Grant Financing agreements for drainage and flood control measures, and undertake regular implementation support per World Bank operational procedures;
• Provide technical advice to participating World Bank, Government and Civil Society task teams and lead quality control of all proposed TURP financed activities;
• Participate in professional development and knowledge sharing activities for urban resilience and contribute specific knowledge both within Tanzania and across the World Bank Group.
• Report to management and as necessary to DFID, on TURP implementation
• Design and implement specific capacity building activities according with client needs.
