Sub Editor Sports - The Citizen One Post
Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
• Checks and corrects editorial copy allocated by the Sports Editor for facts, accuracy, taste, house- style, language use, clarity, details, objectivity, spellings etc.
• Subs copy to fit allocated space without distorting facts or dispensing with the salient points.
• Re-writes the copy as necessary for simplicity, clarity, style etc.
• Writes or rewrites appropriate headlines for copy, ensuring congruity with overriding message of the story.
• Edits pictures selected by Sports Editor to fit allocated space, and writes/rewrites appropriate captions, taking care not to merely state the obvious details.
Academic Qualifications:
• At least four years' experience in journalism part of which as a sub editor
• Degree in Journalism
• Mastery of English and Swahili grammar
