Job Description
Position SummaryIREX seeks a Youth Entrepreneurship and Workforce Development Component Lead for the Future Entrepreneurs and Leaders (FuEL) program in Tanzania. The purpose of this program is to use positive youth development approaches to empower rural Tanzanian youth and educate them on viable business options for rural economies, highlighting the income-generating potential across agricultural and other rural value chains and facilitating access to information, skills, and opportunities to ensure successful business start-ups and sustained employment.
Only citizens of Tanzania will be considered. Positions are contingent on funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure program activities are implemented on time and on budget
- Manage specific initiatives on workforce readiness skills and entrepreneurship training to youth
- Prepare and give substantive technical input to workplans, activity plans, and program reports for assigned components
- Serve as primary liaison with IREX/DC
- Manage consultant activities
- Provide technical input to workforce training activities
- Oversee staff responsible for implementation in target regions.
- Oversee local partner activities
- Ensure project interventions are culturally sensitive and specifically target youth; ensure interventions are sensitive to gender issues and include
- Contribute to project activities, including work planning, reporting, communications, and monitoring and evaluation
- At least 6 years’ professional background and knowledge in youth entrepreneurship and workforce readiness programs
- Technical expertise in one or more of: Business plan development, product development, market analysis, financial literacy, agriculture and other rural value chains, or grant programs
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing youth training, youth capacity building, support for youth entrepreneurs
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Experience working with local counterparts on capacity building and knowledge transfer activities that integrate social and gender concerns
- Experience working on international donor funded programming, USAID preferred
- Ability to establish successful collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including education sector, private sector, government, local organizations, donors and the media
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
