Database Coordinator
The School of St Jude is a 100% charity-funded education institution that provides free, high-quality primary and secondary scholarships to 1,800 of the poorest and brightest students in the Tanzanian region of Arusha.
We are seeking an energetic individual to fill the position above based in Arusha, Tanzania at The School of St Jude.
Job Purpose
Help collect and manage data to analyse business functions and improve communications with donors.
Key Responsibilities
Planning
Develop a database management and cleaning strategy for CiviCRM (including summary of establishment phase and detail of embedding phase) to ensure operational relevance of the database and accuracy of data.
Establish and coordinate a CiviCRM working group comprising a representative from each business and fundraising department to implement, monitor, update and continuously improve CiviCRM operations across all business and fundraising departments.
Implementation
Conduct end of establishment phase review of data to identify and update sponsorship and student records to ensure compliance with approved sponsorship categories and current financial status of all sponsors.
In collaboration with business and fundraising departments, develop and monitor implementation schedule for embedding phase to ensure effective and timely delivery of bulk distribution activities including clearing backlog of un-received communications.
Update CiviCRM database with information from external content such as TASS database and St Jude’s website at least monthly, or more frequently as required.
Make changes to data as required by business office managers or heads of departments.
Provide assistance to CiviCRM users and respond to queries via both CiviHelp inbox and in person in a timely manner.
Identify training needs and conduct training with database users at least monthly, or as required, to ensure effective utilisation of CiviCRM.
Support departments to develop processes and procedures for the effective utilisation of CiviCRM.
Problem solve issues arising with CiviCRM and liaise with external support providers to develop and implement solutions in a timely manner.
Monitoring
Develop and maintain an ongoing CiviCRM audit schedule for the quarterly and annual review of data, processes and procedures to verify departmental compliance.
Assess findings of audits, then recommend and/or implement software or procedure modifications to ensure effective delivery of the database management and cleaning strategy.
Schedule monthly meetings with business office managers, department heads and the CiviCRM working group to monitor success and obtain feedback about potential improvements to CiviCRM.
Assist business office managers and heads of departments with the creation of department reports as required.
Generate monthly and quarterly management reports including summary of audits carried out; data to inform department KPI reports; summary of software problems resolved and modifications delivered; status of training needs and training undertaken.
Continuous improvement
Keep up-to-date with the latest developments for CiviCRM software and identify areas for improvement for utilisation including changes to processes and procedures.
In collaboration with business office managers, department heads and the CiviCRM working group, implement agreed improvements and modifications to CiviCRM.
Other
Participate and support fellow staff in school mission related activities such as all school celebration days and student selection throughout the year.
Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Diploma /Bachelor degree in Computer Science, IT or any relevant course.
Strong knowledge of database systems.
Commitment to clear and effective presentation of data and reporting.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong cooperative, inter-personal, project and time management skills.
Ability to problem solve and work independently.
Computer programming skills would be favourably considered.

Facilities Manager

We are seeking to recruit a Facilities Manager to be based in Arusha, Tanzania at The School of St Jude.
Job Purpose
To ensure all St Jude’s sites and assets are well-maintained and secure and that prospective projects are properly managed, from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure The School of St Jude facilities are well maintained and able to meet the needs of the business office and school.
Ensure capital projects are properly planned and assessed to minimize waste.
Oversee and co-ordinate a scheduled maintenance plan for all sites, assets and facilities.
Co-ordination, replacement and refurbishment of facilities and assets across all sites.
Ensure all sites are safe and secure and ensure due diligence is carried out in respect to The School of St Jude’s of Child Protection Policy and duty of care towards students, staff and visitors.
Directly oversee and manage the IT, Maintenance, Transport and Security managers.
Liase with various managers in order to ensure capital projects are carried out in an efficient, timely and well-prepared manner.
Communicate with fundraising managers in order to assist in funding all budget-approved projects.
Maintain continuous improvement and submit updated procedure manuals for the departments you are managing every six months.
Ensure all work is carried out to the high standard expected by St Jude’s supporters around the world.
Ensure you have a good succession plan in your own position and the departments you are overseeing.
To perform any other task assigned to you by your manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
4 years working experience in a management level.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Estate Management, Property Management or its relevant.
Good planning and Organisational skills with an eye for detail.
Experience in managing a complex and modern building and its infrastructure systems.
A leadership background with strong decision making skills.

Physics Teacher
The School of St Jude is an English-medium charity funded school that provides a free, high-quality education to over 1,800 primary and secondary students from the disadvantaged communities in Arusha.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced person to fill the Physics Teacher position based at The School of St Jude in Arusha, Tanzania.
Job Purpose
To provide a high level of education to the school’s students and help those to learn new ideas and concepts to ensure the students meet the required standards of the Tanzanian education system.
Key Responsibilities
Teach one or more National Curriculum subjects to students in one or more Year levels
Plan lessons in line with National Curriculum syllabus documents and in accordance with the school policy
Provide a learning environment which allows students to learn effectively and in which they are inspired to learn
Monitor and record the progress of the students and encourage them to develop and fulfill their academic potential
Keep up to date with developments in the subject area, with new resources, teaching methodologies and national objectives
Liaise and collaborate with colleagues
Fully support the work of the department and fulfill the school’s mission and purpose
Research new topics and maintain up-to-date subject knowledge
Student Management
Manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and throughout the school and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school and apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary Call parents (in collaboration with the HoD) when there is an academic concern
Academic Qualification
Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Education majoring in Physics or any other related field from a recognized College or University
Must have 2 years of working experience

Willingness to work flexible hours
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing using proper grammar and vocabulary
