Economic Diplomacy Fund Lead, Productivity for Prosperity (P4P)

PwC is working on a bid for FCDO’s upcoming £26.5 million, 5.5 year, Productivity for Prosperity (P4P) programme in Tanzania that is due to commence in July 2022. We are now looking for high calibre individuals to fill several critical roles for the core delivery team including the Economic Diplomacy Fund Lead who will lead a demand-driven technical assistance facility that will support projects in Tanzania that will pursue prosperity and climate development outcomes of P4P. The role will be based in Tanzania for the duration of the programme.

P4P is a high profile structural economic transformation programme aimed at increasing labour productivity and climate resilience in key sectors of Tanzania’s economy, including agro-processing and horticulture. It will have three main pillars: building capabilities of private sector firms, investment facilitation, and business environment reform.

The Economic Diplomacy Fund Lead will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead on the deployment of the Economic Diplomacy Fund in support of the programme’s objectives
  • Solicit, co-develop, evaluate proposals to the Fund, to support projects that are aligned with P4P’s theory of change; supported projects may include the provision of embedded advisers to government, economic and climate research, political economy analysis, policy formation, organise workshops and events
  • Support applicants to develop terms of references, maximise the effectiveness of supported projects and ensure all terms of references have regular milestones and pre-defined decision points, at which the project could be extended, scaled up, scaled down or closed.
  • Ensure that projects are designed to create ownership of the outcome of the intended recipients, and integrate political economy and conflict analysis
  • Act as a full time core team member

Eligible candidates should have the following experiences and qualifications:

  • At least 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with other donor funded projects, ideally funded by the UK Government
  • Experience developing donor funded programmes, managing evaluation processes, and contributing to services procurement decisions
  • Experience working with large international professional services organisations (or equivalent)
  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
