The role
We are currently seeking a talented professional to work closely with our other employees in the Tanzania office. With a minimum of ten years' commercial experience in business development, you will play a key role in managing and developing SMEC Tanzania's business development in line with the organization's strategic direction and financial targets. Your primary responsibilities will include:
The identification and establishment of business opportunities within the region for SMEC's services;
The identification of key clients and the establishment of sustainable relationships with these clients;
The identification of local consultants and agents and the building of strategic alliances to facilitate the winning and implementation of projects;
The provision of guidance and support to SMEC's project managers in the implementation of projects and achievement of financial targets, including the control of project debtors;
The provision of guidance and support to the Regional Manager in marketing SMEC's services and preparing proposals;
Assisting the Regional Manager to identify, track, bid and win projects;
Achieving annual fees and contribution targets for the country and maintaining country overheads within budget;
Establishing country and regional strategies and business plans for SMEC's operations;
Planning and preparing new projects in Tanzania including logistics and mobilization of staff; and
Assisting to ensure the smooth running, monitoring and management of projects and business development of SMEC Tanzania.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will have:
Project management skills, preferably as a Team Leader;
Business management skills and sound commercial skills;
Marketing and negotiation skills;
Knowledge of SMEC's capabilities;
Understanding of the donor funded consulting environment; and
A Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Engineering.
