UNOPS East Africa Hub The UNOPS East Africa Hub is located in Nairobi and oversees the organizations operations in Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi. The Hub covers a large geographic spread, including Eritrea, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros, in addition to those mentioned above.

 UNOPS in Kenya implements a large portfolio of projects in partnership with other UN agencies and various donors on the ground, ranging from physical infrastructure to transactional projects. Background Information - Job-specific The purpose of the project is to increase resilience against the negative effects of climate change on communities living along the coastal zone of Tanzania through the construction and rehabilation of seawalls and rehabilitation of drainage works. To ensure efficient and effective implementation, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Vice President’s Office – Division of Environment (VPODoE) have partnered with the UNOPS-KEOH to provide the full range of support for feasibility studies and surveys (as Phase 1) and detailed design, procurement and implementation (as Phase 2) of the infrastructure component of both projects.

Functional Responsibilities Below are some of the functionalities.
Provides reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of Regional Director/Head of Office, other high-ranking officials and visitors b)

collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items; and c) meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required.

 Ensures proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean.
Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.

Ensures that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident. Previous experience as a driver with NGO or international organization is desired Security and first aid training is desired. Languages Intermediate knowledge of English language is required. Fluency in any of the local languages (both oral and written) is an asset.

Certifications Must hold a valid driving license from United Republic of Tanzania Contract type, level and duration

Contract type:

Local Individual Contractor Agreement (LICA) Contract level: LICA-2

Contract duration: 1 Year (Renewable subject to availability of funds and performance)
