PYRETHRUM FIELD SUPERVISOR (NORTH) POSITION DESCRIPTION:
POSITION TITLE -Pyrethrum Field Supervisor (North)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above vacancy based in Manyara.
Position Summary: To mobilize, develop, train and support pyrethrum farmers in Manyara, Kilimanjaro and Arusha and to manage nursery programs, supervise pyrethrum buying activities arid develop
community relations in order to maximize profitability of operations both for the farmers and for the
company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To meet with farmers on a regular basis in order to appraise farmers of the benefits of growing
pyrethrum whilst, at the same time, training farmers in good pyrethrum agricultural, harvesting and
post harvesting practice.
Manage the nursery program in the northern zone to ensure that adequate quantities of seedlings
are cost effectively produced and supplied to farmers to meet farmer demand for seedlings.
To supervise the activities of buying agents to ensure that buying agents comply with flower
purchasing procedures and that flower quality is maximized by the strict adherence to quality
standards when buying flowers.
To establish and develop registered pyrethrum farmer groups.
To meet with relevant stakeholders to promote pyrethrum farming and to encourage stakeholder
support for pyrethrum farming activities.
To prepare weekly and monthly written field operation plans.
To prepare weekly summary report for peT management.
To prepare monthly reports in respect of pyrethrum farming activities.
To represent the company at agricultural shows and organized events applicable to the pyrethrum
industry.
To arrange and coordinate transport for flower collection as required.
To oversee cash reimbursement activities to buying agents as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
An undergraduate degree in agriculture / agronomy.
Experience in supporting smallholder farmers and promoting good agricultural practices.
Good communication and networking skills. .
Horticultural experience would be an added advantage.
Languages: written & verbal: Swahili and English
