Public Relations Officer POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Pioneer and key player in digital television solution in China and Africa, where we have acquired over 7 million subscribers. We are currently operating in 10 African Countries, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Guinea, Central African Republic, Burundi, Mozambique, Senegal, and we are working on providing our network in more than 20 countries sooner than you expect.

Our operation in Tanzania is a Joint Venture with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) and our products offering digital multiplex service in Tanzania include Digital Television Sets, digital decoders and other value-adding services to serve the masses of Tanzania. We are deploying a unique technology that allows our Digital TV to be offered to subscribers at an affordable price.

Job Title: Public Relations Officer

Reports To: Public Relation Manager

JOB OBJECTIVE:
To ensure smooth and efficient operations of the internal and external Public relations issues and practices by coordinating and cooperating with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure that all practices are done according to Company’s policies and procedures.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with media outlets to publish timely company information, such as press releases, brochures, and other materials and ensuring communication strategy is consistent and reflects the company’s strategic vision.
• Develop and execute strategies that are intended to create and uphold a positive public image for clients by working, forming and managing relationships with various members of the media/ media outlets, government, and public, and assist in generating new business opportunities for the company.
• Managing and Overseeing company’s events and representing the company in different issues involving the company
• Assist to formulate and manage the Public relations budget and ensuring cost effective practices.
• Developing and executing clients’ public relations programs, Corporate Social responsibility and publicity activities.

• Advocate on behalf of the company brand with external stakeholders and the media across all communications channels.
• Serve as main information source for all media contacts requesting data, insights and media opinion influences.
• Regularly interact with upper management and executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
• monitor public opinion regarding an organization or particular issues
• present arguments on behalf of an organization to government, other organizations and special interest groups
• respond to inquiries from the public, media and other organizations
• arrange interviews with journalists, prepare and distribute media releases, and liaise with and make statements to the media

• write, edit and arrange production of newsletters, in-house magazines, pamphlets and brochures
• assist with preparing organizational documents such as annual reports, corporate profiles and submissions
• write speeches, prepare visual aids and make public presentations
• oversee production of visual, audio and electronic material, including managing websites
• organize special events such as open days, visits, exhibitions and functions
• conduct internal communication courses, workshops and media training
• develop risk assessments and implement crisis management plans to ensure an organization’s reputation is maintained
• plan, develop and manage brand identity
• organize and manage events, exhibitions, conferences and product launches
• Procure sponsorship deals.

Requirement:
• Good problem analysis and problem solving skills
• Flexibility with regard to work schedule
• Strong project management or organizational skills
• Strong ability of communication.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Media needs.
• Be familiar with the marketing communication tools.
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
• Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary
• Creative and innovative
• Familiar or having the experience of program producing

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• A graduate from a recognized university/college with not less than 2 years' experience from a fast paced Marketing Service Organization/Media industry.
