Responsible for designing internet networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems. Creates, tests, and evaluates networks.

NETWORK ARCHITECT RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing the IT and Internet infrastructure including all routers, switches, installations, maintenance and support
Designing, engineering, maintenance, and support in the area of data and voice networks
Evaluation of new technologies
Network designing, testing, technical writing and other duties required to architect, standardize and implement the IT department
Strategy and planning
Identifying IT and Internet Infrastructure Configurations
Improve Network Service Availability
Requirements gathering and Documentation

NETWORK ARCHITECT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5+ years Network architecture and engineering with Cisco Technology
A minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications preferably with an ISP, MSO, or other carrier centric environment
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable: UNIX systems (BSD, Linux, Solaris), programming and scripting (C, Perl, xSQL, Expect, Sed/Awk)
Familiarity with test and traffic generation equipment (Spirent, IXIA etc.).
Technical certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE are desirable but not required.
Experience with optical transmission systems (Ciena, Infinera, ADVA, Cisco).
Extensive experience in IP and Carrier Ethernet in a previous engineering or planning role with a Tier1 Service Provider          
Intermediate knowledge of LINUX OS derivatives and shell programming with PERL, Python, PHP, and MySQL being a plus
Intermediate familiarity with Optical OTN/DWDM/ROADM transport systems
Budget reviews for new products and resources
Must have documentation skills and be proficient with MS Visio and other such tool
