Job Description

Position Summary
IREX seeks a Partnership Manager for the Future Entrepreneurs and Leaders (FuEL) program in Tanzania. The purpose of this program is to use positive youth development approaches to empower rural Tanzanian youth and educate them on viable business options for rural economies,
highlighting the income-generating potential across agricultural and other rural value chains and facilitating access to information, skills, and opportunities to ensure successful business start-ups and sustained employment.
Only citizens of Tanzania will be considered. Positions are contingent on funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Build and manage relationships with relevant private sector partners, entrepreneurs and business leaders, and non-profit and organizational partners
  • Identify and manage partners to serve as internship and practicum hosts; provide on-going liaising with hosts prior to and during youth practicums and internships
  • Identify business leaders and networks to serve as mentors for youth entrepreneurs; coordinate with identified mentors during mentorships to ensure productive relationships
  • Contribute to workplanning, activity planning, and reports
  • Ensure that partnership activities are managed by deadline and that targets are reached
  • Ensure that project activities are coordinated with other relevant USAID-funded activities in the region
Skills and Experience
  • At least 6 years’ professional experience in relevant sectors, including strong knowledge of the private sector, entrepreneurship/SME sector, and/or the youth sector in Tanzania
  • Experience working in either Mbeya, Iringa, or Zanzibar preferred
  • Proven track record in private and/or public sector engagement in international development
  • Established relationships with relevant Tanzanian government stakeholder is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience working with local counterparts on capacity building and knowledge transfer activities that integrate social and gender concerns
  • Ability to establish successful collaborative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including education sector, private sector, government, local organizations, donors and the media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
